Homeschooling

February 11, 2005 : 2 Muharram 1426 H

Assalaamu 'alaikum wa rahmatullaah

I've been trying to make decisions that will benefit not only myself, but my family and my community and one of them is to homeschool. As Junayd is still only 15 months old, it's not him who I'll be schooling yet. Inshaa`Allaah I'll be helping out a sister who needs to have two out of her four children to be taught and I think another family with youngsters.

Working in a school for over a year has given me alot of experience with the whole 'schooling' system - what the National Curriculum is all about and where I can find resources that's used at the school. However, it would be nice to know whether there are any homeschooling mothers and/or fathers who find resources on the 'net and what their routines are etc.

Inshaa`Allaah if you have any useful links, please share them. They'll help me to build up a database of websites where I can find useful resources and even teaching ideas. I may start a list of homeschooling links on my links page, so keep checking back for updates inshaa`Allaah.

assalmau 'alaikum wr wb sis!i hope u r well insha allah.. well i hope u know who dis is...well i was jus wonderin if ould help my sis out coz shez tryina look for a job like urz herself... im not really sure if shez considered about homeschoolin but she is going thru a hard time lookin for a clerical job and prefers workin in a muslim environment and is lookin for jobs at muslim schools. well insha allah i was jus wonderin if u could help her out sis... any ideas?

It's funny you've asked 'cos i was actually thinking of your sister for two reasons:

1. Maybe she'd like to take over my post as the School Administrator at my current job at the Olive Tree School that's being run @ LKIC. They pay resonably well mashaa`Allaah and it's very flexible. I'm looking to leave quite soon.. well.. whenever I actually hand in my notice!

2. Maybe she'd like to help me out with this sister that I'm going to help inshaa`Allaah. I'm not too sure what her budget is like, so I might have to get back to you about that one.

But either way, inshaa`Allaah let me know.

Sounds like a great initiative to me. I'm confident there's nothing you set your mind to that you can't achieve.

The ferret would have loved to help, but I think you'll have no problem finding the proper resources. If you dedicate an evening to searching the net, you'll find more than enough of what you need...the ferret says, cuz the ferret knows, hehe...

I'm just so excited! I've been doing some SERIOUS searching on the 'net.. there's so much mashaa`Allaah and they are so easy to adapt. I have a feeling that I'm going to have more fun than the children!
