Homeschooling & Home: Let's Wash!
Archived under Homeschooling .
Assalaamu 'alaikum wa rahmatullaah.
Successful homeschooling (if there's such a thing) most definitely requires alot of discipline and patience as you are not only teaching, but also trying to mould your offspring to have the most desirable qualities.
Amongst that, you (if you're a mother, single parent or stay at home dad) also have to keep your offspring, home and (when you can remember) yourself clean and pristine.
"How?!" I hear you cry. It takes alot of organising and juggling, but it is possible. Inshaa`Allaah, this is the first in a series of: 'Homeschooling & Home' tips which I either practise myself, or have recommended to sisters who struggle a little with the balancing act.
Let's Wash!
This tip came about as a result of my many phone calls to a sister who has 4 young children. Due to health reasons she's not able to do as much housework as she'd like. I told her that she should set out a time of the day (preferably the morning) whereby she'd call it Wash Time.
Objectives: Family union and bonding, showing that we 'help each other out' and that things are easier when done together.
Task: During Wash Time all children (and yourself of course) will get together to do the laundry. This will include loading the washing maching, sorting clothes into sets (i.e coloured clothes, whites, delicates etc.), folding the clothes (for the older children) and 'delivering' the clothes to the owner's room. It shouldn't exceed 45 minutes because children just get bored and fed up after that.
Wash Time should be made as fun as possible, using incentives and games to get the job done.
Was-salaamu 'alaikum
