Passing of a Scholar
Archived under Heart-Melters .
"Allah does not take away the knowledge by taking it from the people, but He takes it away by the death of the knowledgeable ones, until no knowledgeable one remains, then the people will take ignorant persons as their leaders, they will ask them, and they will give them fatwas without knowledge - and in one version: "according to their opinions" - so they will go astray and lead others astray."
... and this we see. Inna lillaahi wa inna ilayhi raaji'oon.

Yesterday, another scholar and well-known author of Ar-Raheeq al-Mukhtum (The Sealed Nectar) and When the Moon Splits, Shaykh Safiur-Rahman Mubarakpuri, returned to Allaah. He was a much loved scholar in India where he was born and where, subhaanAllaah, he died and we pray that Allaah has mercy on him, expands his abode and grants him the highest rank in Jannah, aameen.

Assalamu aleikum
Alhamdu lillah, the sister found it herself, in Muslim with slightly different translation:
Verily, Allah does not take away knowledge by snatching it from the
people but He takes away knowledge by taking away the scholars, so that
when He leaves no learned person, people turn to ignorant as their,
leaders; then they are asked to deliver religious verdicts and they
deliver them without knowledge, they go astray, and lead others astray.

Assalamu aleikum ukhti.
I've seen this hadeeth before, but I don't remember where. Could you tell me, please? A sister just asked me.
