What Do You Think?

Assalaamu 'alaikum wa rahmatullaah

How's everyone doing? I pray that everyone's well, inshaa`Allaah.

A very kind brother gave my husband a digital camera a few weeks ago for his business and I was playing around with it taking a few shots - as you do - and here's a shot of a new plant i bought:

New Plant

What do you think of the shot? I don't think it's too bad mashaa`Allaah - I'm pretty pleased with it.

This same kind brother also managed to get me an MP3 Player [which i am absolutely estatic about!] and he purchased and installed a much needed CD/DVD-RW, mashaa`Allaah walhamdulillaah. So many new horizons have opened (does that even make sense?? *shrugs*).

Okie dokie, I'm off...

Yeah, salaam to you too..

You can get really cheap laptops nowadays.. their cheap now compared to how much they were a few years ago.

While we're on the suject of geeky things... who wants to tell me how I can record lectures onto CD-R cd's? .. no, i wont pay you ..

It's lovely....the picture, :) You have an 'eye' that you can train to open up those horizons....which make plenty sense, by the way. :D

I started carrying a camera with me wherever I went after I snapped one of a bird perched at the edge of a roof. The picture held a thousand meanings for me...I felt so blessed to be at that paticular spot and at that particular time with a camera in hand....just as I snapped, it took off..

So yeah, Insha Allah, I'll look forward to seeing more of those special moments you'll capture with 'your eye', hehehe.... Take Care.

Salam.

EKA...! Where'd you run to sis?? I got worried after your post on your blog about the Tsumani and subhaanAllaah, that picture of that bird was powerful.
You've got a better 'eye' than I have... my husband says: "You've got problems man.." cos I refuse to look even more geeky by wearing glasses!

Luv ya sis and I wanna see more comments from you [BTW you're at the top of the leaderboad..]

Assalaamu Alaikum,

When I purchased my DVD re-writer it came with Nero, and I must say, it is pretty much the best software I have used to burn onto discs. I do not think it is that expenisve to but on its own either. Not sure where we stand on copyright issues, but if that is not a problem maybe I can burn you a copy of the software.

Was-Salaamu Alaikum,

Zakariya, Abu Suhaylah.

JazaakAllaah khairaa Abu Suhaylah. I've got Nero on my PC. I just about managed to burn a CD today, mashaa`Allaah.

What I meant to ask was: what format do the lectures need to be in before I can burn them onto a CD? I want to be able to play them in a normal CD player.

The CD you sent my husband and I doesn't play in my CD player 'cos the lectures are in MP3 format..

Any ideas??

7 Abu Suhaylah said on January 14, 2005 12:32 AM:

Assalaamu Alaikum,

Ok, all the lectures I sent you and your husband are in MP3 format. The reason for this is because if I sent you and audio CD (one you can play in a normal stereo, car CD Player etc.) then I would have only been able to fit 80 minutes of playing time on each CD, so audio format goes by the time, but MP3 format goes by the MB size, so you can fit so much more on. I do not know how many hours were on the DVD I sent you and your husband, but there cannot be any less than 150 hours, just imagine how many CD's that would be if I were to have sent them in audio format.

What I actually sent you was a DVD and not a CD, because a DVD can hold 4.7GBfs of information and a CD can only hold 0.7GBfs of information, and what I sent you was close to 4GB if I remember correctly. So instead of sending you several CDfs I decided to send just one DVD.

Does the DVD play on your computer? It should do that at least. If you want to make audio CD copies of the lectures you like then make sure they are under 80 minutes because that is all that can fit on one CD. If you come across any lectures that are more than that then let me know and I can cut it in half using my sound editing software and send it back to you via email so you can copy it to audio CDfs, all be it in 2 parts.

Hope I am making sense.

If you have nero then open it, click efavouritesf, then click emake audio CDf, then click eaddf and a box will open where you can browse for the file you want to add, select the lecture you want to add from the relevant destination (hard drive, CD-ROM) and then click finished. You will see a blue bar at the bottom of nero window telling you how much time you have used up in minutes of the disc, so if you have free minutes left you can add whatever lecture will feet in the remaining space. When you are done click enextf, fill out the boxes if you want to, select writing speed and then click burn, thatfs it!

Any problems let me know.

Was-Salaamu Alaikum,

Abu Suhaylah.

OK.. Nero and I have gotten off to a good start so there aren't any problems there. But I have a few lectures in .rm/ .ram format [ie. Real Media format] that cannot be burnt onto CD. What program/ software do I need to convert it?

I'm pretty happy to simply transfer a few of those lectures you sent me onto my MP3 player. The one about the heart was very good mashaa`Allaah. Kinda gave me a reminder of how dead mine is.. subhaanAllaah.

Anyhow, that's a whole new post in itself.

Oh, hey, I didn't know Sis, haven't stopped by in quite a while. Yeah, we were lucky to be spared by the tsunami. As for those who weren't so fortunate, may Allah grant them eternal peace (Amin).

So you wear glasses, hehe...just as I suspected. People dedicated to seeking knowledge tend to have eye problems...ahhh...I can't wait to join the league of glass wearing geeks, hehehe...

Thank you so much for your kind words Sis. It feels great knowing I'm loved and cared for. *hearts*

I've stopped blogging at tblog due to technical issues, but mostly because it felt phony and unfulfilling. I blog for my soul now....you're always welcome to stop by whenever, :-)

Salam.
