Will-Writing (part two)
Archived under Tazkiyyah .
In Islaam a will is known as Wassiyyah which basically means one gives a gift to others in term of wealth, debt and beneficence of one's property after his or her death.
Allaah has said regarding it:
"It is prescribed, when death approaches any of you, if he leaves any goods that he makes a bequest to parents and next of kin, according to reasonable usage; this is due from the God-fearing" [Soorah al-Baqarah (2):180].
Since it's a complicated process - especially when it comes to dividing wealth according to that which is mentioned in the Qur`aan, I have included an example of what an Islaamic Will can look like. In actual fact, it is an exact replica of my Last Will with all my details removed. You will however need to make sure that your chosen executors are those who know how your estate should be divided correctly.
Since this has been a rather bad attempt to actually complete this post, I would like to apologise to you all as I have very little energy left at the moment.
Please remember me in your supplications to Allaah - please ask Him to grant me good in the aakhirah.
Your Thoughts
Wa 'alaikumus-salaam wa rahmatullaah brother Junaid.
From what I have been told, the UK law requires that you have a will - whether it be an Islaamic one or not. Unfortunatley (or fortunatley), I didn't complete my L.L.B Bachelor of Laws, so I can't completely say that this is the case. However, I will inshaa`Allaah dig around the statutes and the websites I visited while doing my degree to verify the correct position (for clarification purposes, I also reside in the UK).
I'll post my findings here inshaa`Allaahu ta'aala.

As-salamu alaykum,
masha Allah this is something I have been wanting to look into for some time.
The problem isn't so much the shariah-compliant content, but how to make it compatible with British laws (I am in the UK)..
Can I ask if your example will layout is in conformance to the local inheritance laws, i.e. have you had it checked by a lawyer?
I'll leave it here for now.. I end with some encouragement: please continue.. and may Allah bless your efforts and make them useful to your brothers and sisters and multiply your reward bi idhnillah.
wa'l salam
