Writing...

Bismillaahi was-salaatu was-salaamu 'alaa Rasoolillaah. Wa ba'd:

I've been seriously thinking about my writing and writing and whether I should take it into another 'realm'. I've not written seriously in a while, be it poetry or reminders - nothing. The last few reminders I posted are not what I'd call 'writing', just... a reminder?

Anyhow, I would love to write for children since I have a child and I know many sisters who have more than one child. However, I've got a serious case of writer's block; if only there were doctors for this syndrome - or are there?

And the point of me posting this was? I don't know really. Call it a Personal Rambling.

Any thoughts?

Asalaam 'Alaikum:

Right now that's what I've been thinking too. I also have a severe case of writer's block. I guess the thing is - for me, if I know what to write about I can get really into it - but until I have that idea in mind - I'm just sitting here scratching my head.

Any ideas on how to get out of writer's block? I know they have writing prompts - but I'd actually like any writing I do to be worthwhile - wish we had Islamic writing prompts!

Wa 'alaikumus-salaam.

Firstly, thank you for your lovely email, mashaa`Allaah, it was very heart-warming,

Secondly, I really do not know how to get rid of writer's block. I remember telling a sister who I know (she has five children, mashaa`Allaah) that she should use one of her boys as a character in a story. He would be excellent because he's so full of energy (literally!) and no two days with him are the same mashaa`Allaah - he melts my heart! What I told her to do is to keep a little notebook for each child and write little tidbits about them each day - whether it be something they did, or a trait she notice in them etc. Maybe you could try that...??
