... You claim that Allaah is the Rabb of all that exists, but there are those amongst mankind who deny His existence. Does the denial of Allaah's existence decrease His Ruboobeeyah in any way?

Yes, another thought-provoking question - and it's open to everyone!

Salaamun 'alaykum

I will try, but I look forward to the correct answer, inshaAllaah.

Allaah is the Rabb of everyone and everything. Whether the people believe in Him or not they are still His creation and are subject to His universal decree.

Allaah is the Lord of everything that exists.

Allaah said: الْحَمْدُ للّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ
All the praises and thanks be to Allâh, the Lord of the 'Alamîn (mankind, jinns and all that exists). (Al-Fatihah 1:2)

Allaah is the Creator of everything, and everything is under His control.

اللَّهُ خَالِقُ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ وَهُوَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ وَكِيلٌ
Allâh is the Creator of all things, and He is the Wakîl (Trustee, Disposer of affairs, Guardian, etc.) over all things. [39:20]

Everyone/thing submits to Allaah, willingly or unwillingly, as believers or disbelievers.

Do they seek other than the religion of Allâh, while to Him submitted all creatures in the heavens and the earth, willingly or unwillingly. And to Him shall they all be returned. (Aali Imran 3:83)

And in a hadeeth qudsee (a hadeeth which the prophet relates from Allaah), Allaah said "O My servents, were the first of you and the last of you, the human of you and the jinn of you to be as wicked as the most wicked heart of any one man of you, that would not decrease My kingdom in anything."[muslim]

Therefore whether one denies the existence of Allaah or not, they are still a creation of Allaah, and He is their Lord. None of the actions of the creation takes anything away from His Lordship. In fact their act of disbelief is a result of His Rububiyyah because He is the one who decreed that they disbelieve in Him. He may not be pleased with their disbelief, but the universal decree is inevitable to pass. And Allaah is the Most Wise, Just, and perfect in everything He decrees.

Hmm... anyone else?

Assalamu 'alaikum

No. Like Sis Zahra I don't think disbelief in Allah decreases His Majesty not in the least. Allah is free of need from His creations. It is the creations that depend on Him for sustenance. Disbelieving and denying Him like taking other Rabbs beside's Allah does not change that fact.

Wa 'alaikumas-salaam,

TabaarakAllaah, you're both correct - inshaa`Allaah, I will expand in my next post. Jazaakumaa Allaahu khairaa.

Dear Umm Layth,

Jazaakillaahu khairan for the aayah, would it be possible to provide a reference and possibly a translation? It would be more beneficial, bi`idnillaah.

Wass-Salaamu'alaikum.

You can search the following site for any aayaat of the Qur`aan by typing it in in English. Maashaa`Allaah, it's really handy.

It's ayah 15 of Surah Fatir.

O ye men! It is ye that have need of Allah: but Allah is the One Free of all wants, worthy of all praise.
