Ramadhaan: 'Tis the Time
Ramadhaan:
'Tis the time
- Of suppressing desires
Tightening loose ends – that which moves hearts, causes love, hate or fear.
To express words of love and gratitude to kin.
Ramadhaan:
'Tis the time
- Of going without
Sacrificing for oneself and others.
For tears
Shed for lost time – wasted time, useless time.
Ramadhaan:
'Tis not only about
- The bubbling of the juices
As they cry out for nourishment.
But a time for reflection and aid
For those cries of hunger unheard by most of man.
Ramadhaan:
'Tis the time
- Of giving and
Forgiving
Purging sins from one's being
Polishing hearts – ridding of a lifetime of sinning.
Ramadhaan:
'Tis the time
- Of sure words
Pure Words
Rained from above the heavens
Descended into hearts and penetrated into souls.
Ramadhaan:
'Tis a blessed time
- A precious time
Often wasted time
May be our last time.

Good contemplation on the beauty of Ramadan. While reading, it has reminded me my own poem, which was written, sometimes during 2001. It's below
The Essence of Fasting
How many hearts bent in faith
Call it a strain of duty with eloquence
No more hunger but a willful fasting
Whose reward and measure Allah Knows
O, therefs plain discipline and virtue
That tutors each soul for fit behavior
Not to err, not to sin, not to trespass
Yet to be within limits more and always
It is this attempt and deeds virtuous
That pleases Allah nearer to the mark
Each fasting, like a beam of whitest moon
Doth fairly enhances more beauty in life
Lets unto Allah we pray for more blessings
And, beg the favors of the eternal world.
