There is a Little Sweet Shop

This has GOT to be the longest poem I've ever written, mashaa`Allaah - 55 lines!

~ Umm Junayd.

There is a Little Sweet Shop

There is a little sweet shop
Itfs always open for business
There youfll find an array of things
The good stuff never ceases

But many merely walk on by
Never peering in
Therefs so much on offer there
Turning away could be a sin

There sits a little sweet shop
Welcoming all to its glory
Some peer through its windows
Do they see something gory?

No, they see the light of those
Who are always making wudhoo
Washing face, arms, feet and head
The way they theyfre meant to

If they look to the right
Theyfd see the happiness
Of those who guard their salaah
Which helps relieve distress

There is that little sweet shop
Calling all to turn their heads
Away from all sinful acts
To much better things instead

Can you count how many times
People have walked on by
There it is beckoning us
For reward to use when we die

It offers salaah, daily prayers
The charity, az-zakah
The month long fast in Ramadaan
The journey to Bayt-Allaah

Jars crammed full with happiness
Rows to fill you with joy
Peace and security to ease all hearts
Of women, girls, men and boys

So whofll enter this sweet shop
In it therefs no discrimination
Youfre most welcome to come right in
Itfs open to every nation

The pleasure found within its walls
Illustrate why many run in
Only a minority walk out again
May Allaah keep us strong in our deen
Aameen.
